These fossil plates normally only show one fish, but here we have multiple specimens. 50 million years ago a Volcanic eruption of fine ash was deposited in a thick bed in Wyoming. It killed the fauna en masse in lakes and rivers giving us these marvellously preserved fossil specimens.
